At Wellington Christian School we are passionate about our vision of being authentic, responsive and transformational in the culture we build, the faithfully Christian and bespoke education we provide and the hope we promote through knowing Christ.  Every day, as active and committed Christians, our staff focus on fulfilling this vision through their personal and professional interactions with each other and members of our community.

Working With Us

With a vibrant, open, friendly and supportive school culture we are passionate about Christian education and as a Parent Controlled School we seek to engage deeply with the parents of our students. WCS is known in the community as a school with a strong sense of community, supportive pastoral care systems, academic improvement and a commitment to serve others.

What a beautiful school we have! We are committed to an ongoing program of improvement and development of our facilities for the benefit of our staff, our students, our parents and members of the broader local community. We are constantly exploring new ways to enhance both our learning and play environments.

Ongoing Professional development is an essential part of life for staff at WCS. We conduct regular internal professional development and staff are also encouraged & supported to undertake post graduate training at either the National Institute for Christian Education or other tertiary institutions. Throughout the year staff are also offered opportunities to attend professional development courses run by various national bodies such as Christian Education National (CEN) and the Association of Independent Schools (AIS). We also offer a mentoring program for new staff.

Employment opportunities are advertised on our Positions Vacant page, Christian Education National and Christian Jobs Australia. We also welcome employment enquiries at any time throughout the year.

Application Process

We work hard to ensure that our selection process is as transparent, fair, thorough and straightforward as possible. The process is described below.

Each time we advertise a new position, we also provide you with the name of someone that you can contact to seek clarification on the details about the role and position.

Once you have decided to formally apply for a role, you’ll need to complete the relevant application form below and email the documents specified in the job ad to jo.blatch@wellingtoncs.com.au.

Once we receive your application, and after the closing date has passed, we will consider it in light of the published experience, qualifications and skills required as described in the advertised criteria. You will be contacted via email on the progress of your application.

When you’re invited to interview, you should expect to meet with a small panel of interviewers. We use panel interviews because we find them to be an efficient and thorough way of helping to assess candidate suitability. In some cases, a second interview may also be required for our preferred candidates. For roles reporting directly to the Principal, an interview with a panel of School Board members will also be part of the selection process.

During the interview, we will ask you a series of questions that will span a wide range of areas, including your work history, your work performance and achievements, your Christian beliefs, your work style and what you feel are your key capabilities and development areas.

Once the full interview process is complete, and as the final preferred candidate, we will arrange to speak with your work and personal referees. We will only ever contact your referees when you authorise us to do so. At this stage, and only as the preferred candidate, you will also be required to submit a NSW Government Working with Children Check for verification before employment commences.

In preparation for your interview, we encourage you to read through the important documents under Suggested Readings (below).

Christian Education – A Different Starting Point

Christian Education National (CEN) have written an article titled What is Christian Education which provides a clear explanation of the distinctives of Christian Education.

Most Christian schools in Australia belong to a wider association of Christian schools. A community of school communities unified around the common goal of authentic, Bible-based, Christ-centred education. This is Christian Education National (CEN). Wellington Christian School is a member of Christian Education National. Learn more at their website.
